Bel Air High – DR14W: Honors Drama

This is a weighted honors performance course offered to advanced drama students in grades 11-12, who have successfully completed Drama I-III, show an interest in being a peer mentor/tutor, and future drama teacher or theatre major in college. Students will be eligible to take this class through an interview process. Mentoring student development, in pantomime, improvisation, directing, acting, and technical theater, will be a primary focus. Interdisciplinary work will be included in student-led projects. Along with regular writing and reading assignments, in-class student and teacher evaluations, students will become leaders in daily classroom activities, planning with the teacher. Evening rehearsals are required to prepare for upcoming student-led plays, shows, and other productions. Students in this performance class will perform, direct, and produce in a variety of settings throughout the year that will require co-curricular dedication from the student. Students may take this course more than one time.
