Bard High School Early College DC (Bard DC) – Introduction to Latin American Art

This course introduces the art of Latin America throughout its history. Students will understand the primary characteristics of Pre-Columbian, colonial, modern and contemporary art. The class will incorporate readings associated with the art and the artists in order to familiarize students with scholarly analyses and with the cultures being studied. By the end of the course, students should be able to analyze art orally and in writing. We may have more than one opportunity to visit museums in DC to view works of art.
Grades: Year One/11th or Year Two/12th
