This course highlights drawing as a distinct form of artmaking and theinvestigation of color that can take place within it. Students will beacclimated to value, form, proportion, perspective, color theory, and otheraspects of drawing including mark-making, and visual texture.Coursework will be informed by lectures that detail historical aspects ofcolor media drawing as well as contemporary practices in the genre.Students will work in a variety of media including ink, colored pencil,and oil pastel. Subjects such as still-life, landscape, and the human figure,will be visited during the course. As artists have done throughout thecourse of history, students will utilize their knowledge of the elements of art and principles of design to create works of art that reflect the uniquecapabilities of color media drawing, fueled by their personal experiences.
