Forensic Science is the application of the natural and physical sciences tocriminal investigations. In this course, we will explore the legal and lawenforcement sides of a homicide investigation, chemical and traceevidence, biological evidence, and ballistics, forgeries, and other physicalevidence, including document and handwriting analysis, arson and explosions, and technology. Labs include fingerprint dusting, drugtesting, blood typing and spatter analysis, and the microscopic analysis ofhair, fiber, blood and firearm evidence. Our semester-long term projectwill require you to investigate a homicide crime scene / killer of yourchoice and explore the evidence found, background and motives of thekiller, and major outcomes of the crime, culminating in a term paper, a3D crime scene reconstruction, and a presentation of your findings.
