Bard High School Early College – CHI 202: Intermediate Chinese II

Chinese 202 is a semester-long Intermediate language course designed tobuild upon the skills students develop in Chinese 201 (previously 103),usually taken in their junior or senior year. In Chinese 202, students willextend their ability to understand and express themselves using Chinese(Mandarin) while increasing their vocabulary and command of thelanguage. The aim is for students to develop communicative competencein a variety of real-life, daily situations, including school life, and keepinga balanced schedule, as well as travel over winter break and putting on aChinese show at school. Students will learn about the richness of Chineseculture and customs, thereby developing their global perspective, usingsupplementary materials, including rhymes, videos, cartoons, andreadings. Classroom instruction will be predominantly delivered inChinese.
