Baltimore School for the ArtsChess (9–12)

This course is designed to support the District’s Chess initiative. Students will learn the principles of chess, how the pieces move, value of the pieces, tactics, and opening, middle, and endgame theory. Students in grades 9-12 are encouraged to enroll into this elective course and may have the opportunity to represent their school's chess team and compete in the Metro Detroit Scholastic Chess League (City League), State, Regional and possible National Competition.
