In this course students learn ceramic design, construction and decorating techniques. Students create ceramic artworks using basic clay hand building techniques such as pinch, coil, slab, and hollow, as well as piercing, carving, graffiti, inlay, impression, stenciling and slip trailing. Students also learn to make pottery on the potter's wheel. Students become acquainted with the early history of ceramic production, and learn some of the terminology used by ceramicists.
