Atlantic Technical College – Electricity

The program is designed to prepare students for employment in the vast network of jobs in the electrical trades. Instruction includes: basic electricity, residential wiring, commercial wiring, trouble diagnosis, repair procedures, the use of electrical and mechanical tools of the trade for installations and trouble shooting, blueprint reading, and interpretation of electrical symbols. Program content also includes building and wiring codes including the National Electrical Code, splicing and connecting wires, installation of conduit, and safe work practices.
Prerequisites: Have at least a 2.5 GPA in the four core classes (English, Math, Science and Social Studies) on the most recent report card. Level 3 or higher in both FAST/EOC Math and FAST Reading from the previous school year for Progress Monitoring 3 (PM3). If the FSA is not available, at least 50th percentile in Math and Reading on most nationally recognized standardized test will be accepted.
