Media Leadership is for advanced journalism student leaders of a student-run publication (news site, yearbook, literary magazine, etc.) wanting to cultivate essential leadership skills and establish fundamental knowledge of the business side of publications. Students will have the opportunity to develop and enhance a personal philosophy of leadership that includes: the understanding of self, and community, and acceptance of responsibilities inherent in communicating and producing media for a community. Learning opportunities may include direct experiences such as: competition preparation, media service projects for the community, dynamic leadership portfolios, and career exploration.
