Emerging Technologies in Journalism courses provide direction and editorial leadership to student-run publications, promoting the development of the necessary skills for journalism. Course topics may include an exploration of the role media and the communications industry has in society, technical skills related to journalistic writing and interviewing, electronic communications, journalistic blogging, and the ethical and legal issues related to technology in media and communications. This course encourages students who are passionate about journalism to lead all facets of production in media projects while completing their professional portfolio demonstrating their acquired professional and technical skills. Students can explore WBL experiences with local professional news organizations as well as work in teams while in class to manage and create content.
