The Advanced Sports Medicine: Internship is a yearlong, hands-on experience for students enrolled in Advanced Sports Medicine courses. Students support a high school sports team outside school hours, providing care to athletes before, during, and after practices and competitions. Responsibilities include injury prevention, treatment, and assistance with therapeutic practices. The internship requires 180 hours of supervised fieldwork, journal entries, and reflections. Completion of this internship qualifies students for a Washington Vocational Sports Medicine Association (WVSMA) certificate.

Prerequisites: Successful completion of Introduction to Sports Medicine and concurrent enrollment in Advanced Sports Medicine: Evaluation is required.
