Amador Valley High – US History (P)

Grades: One-year course. Open to grade 11. Meets the UC/CSU "A" Requirement for History/Social Science. The 11th grade US History course is focused on modern American history, with a particular focus on the 20th century. The course begins with an overview of the time preceding the 20th century with an emphasis on the nation’s founding ideals. 20th century content includes (but is not limited to) the culture of the 1920s, the Great Depression and New Deal, World War II and its aftermath, the Cold War and the conflicts fought during that era, and the fight for civil rights and equality for all. The course incorporates primary source documents and firsthand accounts.
Period 8: 1945-1980
The Cold War, civil rights movement, Vietnam, and the conservative resurgence.
