Amador Valley High – Special Day Class Health Education

One-semester course. Open to grade 9. The course covers all curriculum taught in the general education classroom. Students will study the physical, mental, emotional, and social factors of health. There is a focus on learning the role students can play in maintaining their own health through deliberate behaviors and responsible decision making. Topics include life management skills; mental and emotional well-being; diseases and disorders; substances and abuse; nutrition and physical fitness; family life education; HIV/AIDS: injury prevention and first aid; and careers in the health field.
Grades: One-semester course. Open to grade 9.
