Chinese I (Mandarin) introduce students to the Chinese language and culture of China. The overall objective is for students to develop basic listening, speaking, reading and writing abilities in Chinese and to understand the customs and life of modern Chinese. The course goals include the following: (1): Speaking: students develop dialogues, and are able to describe some basic daily activities using basic vocabulary; (2): Listening: students understand daily conversation; (3): Reading: students are able to read over basic daily Chinese characters with or without Pinyin; (4): Writing: students write Chinese charac
