One-year course. Open to grades 11, 12. Prerequisite: Completion of ASL III with a grade of C- or better. Meets the UC/CSU "E" Requirement for a Language Other than English. This course covers the in-depth exposure and comparative analysis of the Deaf social and linguistic experience using American Sign Language. ASL will be particularly useful to persons with an interest in better, more effective communications with deaf individuals, and for those interested in eventual interpreting, teaching, and/or working with the deaf and hard of hearing communities.
