Prerequisite: At least one year of Choir or Jazz Band, audition based, concurrent enrollment in a large ensemble (instrumental or vocal). One year meets the UC/CSU "F" Requirement for Visual and Performing Arts. Vocal Jazz Ensemble is an audition-based classroom ensemble, in which students will receive advanced instruction in jazz history, music theory, jazz composition, vocal and instrumental technique, solo transcription and improvisation, arranging, and performance skills. Students will also learn to run a sound system, and recording basics.
