As a child, I was fortunate to live in Spain for two years and travel in various parts of Europe. As an adult, I have spent time in the South Pacific. Always with me, whether on the road or in the air, I carried a book. I hope to instill such a love for reading, for information or pleasure in all my students. I am passionate about this and so decided to get my Master's in Education with a Reading Endorsement. After working in public schools for nine years, I went back to school and obtained a TESOL endorsement. I have tutored people aged 5 to 75 and am driven by seeing this love for reading grow in many of my students over the years. With all of the coursework I've completed in the areas of language development and usage, I am highly qualified in the area of Language Arts as well, and have taught high school and college aged students in literature and English composition. I just received my PhD in Geospatial and Environmental Analysis from Virginia Tech. My undergraduate degree was in Biology and Geography. Since graduation, I work as a scientist in environmental conservation. During grad school, I worked as a teaching assistant for college level geography and forestry courses. I was also a guest teacher in a middle school science class as part of a science literacy fellowship and enjoyed creating innovative lesson plans to engage students beyond a lecture hall. I am a firm believer in education, believing it to be absolutely necessary for fostering the next generation of informed critical thinkers. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Ecology, Biology and Environmental Science. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time outdoors, hiking, rock climbing, biking and gardening.

I am a graduate of the writing program at Eckerd College under Sterling Watson, where I received an extensive education on everything from the nuts and bolts of word choices and sentence structure to the underlying philosophy behind good writing. In the years since, I have put my knowledge of writing to use in both a journalistic and marketing capacity, writing everything from news blurbs to product copy to editorials. I am an avid reader and have spent the better part of two decades absorbing new ideas about the craft of writing and refining my understanding of it. I also love sharing what I've gleaned to help others elevate their own abilities and writing development. At present, I work as the Digital Marketing Director for a youth education and personal empowerment company (for whom I either write or edit 99% of all company language and messaging), and I contribute to two online music sites as a creative outlet for my continued interest in music journalism.

I'm a recent physics graduate from the University of New Mexico. I started at the University as a student of electrical engineering, but soon figured out that I was passionate about learning physics. Ever since I have been interested in topics like math, physics, and computer science. In addition to those I also care deeply about the arts, and more recently education.I first started tutoring math and physics when I was an sophomore in college and immediately fell in love with the experience. Soon after I was a teaching assistant for a Java programming class, in which I had the opportunity to have much more long term involvements with students. I tried my hand at getting started in the software development industry during my last semester at university but found myself missing teaching and community involvement. Long story short, I followed my heart and came back to teaching!In my free time I enjoy listening to and playing music or enjoying a good game with some friends!
