To me there is nothing more exciting and rewarding than to see a child or adult's eyes light up because s(he) learned something. Every intellectual accomplishment builds a little bit of self-confidence that motivates the child to want to learn more because s(he) knows s(he) can do it. I have benefited like my students because I know I have the ability to reach minds and hearts with my God-given ability to patiently and clearly teach mathematics. Each day, like my clients are to learn, I am motivated to teach.With a BS in Mathematics, twenty-eight years a public school teacher and seven years a tutor since retirement, I have had vast experiences instructing young students in elementary and secondary schools, as well as in undergraduate and graduate universities, in general math, Algebra 1-2 and College Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Precalculus, Differential/Integral Calculus, Probability, Statistics and Finite Mathematics. I have always maintained a good rapport with students because of my obvious caring and respect for young people. I have obtained a Bachelor's degree with a double major in Spanish and French at the University of South Alabama, where I tutored college students in Spanish for three years and French for one year. I also fill in for Spanish professors at South Alabama and tutor high school students and adults in both languages on the side.My style is very interactive, and I focus on challenging students to be able to produce the language on their own, not just telling them how it works, so that they can be ready for whatever exercises their tests may throw at them!I have lived in France for six weeks, and been to Spain and Chile as well, so I love to travel! I also enjoy playing and watching tennis, and making music with production software and synthesizers.

I currently attend medical school, getting my Master's in Surgical Assisting and I received my undergraduate degrees in Biology and Philosophy from Virginia Wesleyan College. Being able to teach a student to have an understanding of the work given to them so that they can be successful in any educational subject is one of the most rewarding things I have done in life. I was a collegiate athlete so I like to stay active now that I am no longer playing basketball at a competitive level. We can help you at every stage, whether you are just trying to understand the assignment, trying to narrow your topic, seeking out materials, trying to make sense of the materials and figure out how to use and respond to them, how to draft a paper, how to format and effectively cite source, or how to edit and revise so your paper can be as sharp and persuasive as it can be." A large part of my day job is to be a one-stop shop for students' study needs.I believe that learning is an active (not passive) undertaking, and that we only know that we've actually learned when we (as students) are able to practice a given skill ourselves, to construct knowledge and understanding in our own thoughts and words. If there's no YOU DO in the classic I DO-WE DO-YOU DO sequence, then it's not learning, it's preaching. I try to meet students where they are, to assess your prior knowledge, skills, and experience and collaborate with you to come up with a plan for what knowledge and skills you want to develop and what intermediate steps do we need to take to help you get there.
