I am a graduate of Gonzaga University. I graduated with a Bachelors of Business Administration with concentrations in International Business and Entrepreneurship. I have been tutoring for almost 10 years now, with students that were in 1st grade, all the way up to college level. I have tutored primarily in math since that was always my favorite subject in school. In high school I took almost every math class available up to AP Calculus AB and BC, which I scored a 5 on both AP tests. Currently I tutor students for fun because I really enjoy seeing the progress that they make over our sessions together and I really love helping people.

I am a recent graduate of the University of Washington, Seattle. While studying there, I received a BA in Mathematics with Teaching Preparation. I also had the opportunity to tutor students of all ages. Ranging from helping students struggling in first grade, high school algebra, to UW 300 level probability courses. Math has been my favorite subject my whole life, and my goal is to become a high school math teacher. I know that some people are not the biggest fans of math, but I take it upon myself to help the struggling students, and maybe if they can see themselves succeeding in mathematics they will enjoy it more.In my spare time I like to go running, play Ultimate Frisbee, play board games, and watch the Seahawks every game day.

More recently, I taught college composition (both freshmen and sophomore levels) at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks. As an instructor, I pride myself not only on teaching students how to write compelling academic essays, but also guiding them to discover their voice. Additionally, I adore helping high school students find their voice during the college application process--both for the dreaded, concise application essay(s) and prepping them for the even more dreaded admission interview. I'm something of a mini-expert in this field, having worked in the Colorado College Admission Office. I interviewed hundreds of students, evaluated them, and sat in on committee meetings. I have a firm understanding of what makes an applicant stand out versus fall into the blur of thousands of other applications.

I am a sophomore at Grove City College majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Though I have no formal experience tutoring, I have helped my fellow students on many occasions. I truly love helping people around me understand difficult concepts. I know that each student learns differently. From experience, I know I am able to alter how I teach dependent on how the student learns. For example, I have a friend who is not a visual learner. I was able to adjust my methods to accommodate her learning style. I have had the opportunity to learn from fantastic teachers. I have been able to learn many helpful tips and tricks to pass on to students.Not only would I be able to adjust my teaching style, I am also very patient and encouraging in my teaching style. There are a lot of difficult subjects that are really hard to understand. It's very easy to want to give up. My studies and research focused on application of cognitive and educational psychology in the physics classroom for lasting learning of the concepts. As such, I have 18 years experience and expertise in teaching introductory Physics courses (both Algebra and Calculus-based) at college/university level. My experience and education lends to me having not only comprehensive understanding of Physics and Math, but also a deep understanding of how to present/explain in ways that make it easy to pick up the concepts and apply them to word problems. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Cincinnati. I plan on attending law school in the near future, but I have always enjoyed teaching. I started tutoring during my junior year of high school, finding that I had an aptitude for analogies that helped students learn the material. I tutor a large variety of subjects, including LSAT, SAT, and ACT. I also tutor various academic subjects, primarily in the fields of math and science. My favorite subject to tutor is Chemistry, followed closely by Physics. I feel that anyone can learn anything as long as it is explained in a way that is conducive to them, and I aim to achieve that in my teaching.
