Hi, I'm Mickey, a recent Northwestern University engineering grad who moved back to Evanston near the end of 2019. I'm great at math, and excited to help teach students in any subject I can! I'm predominately looking to do online tutoring currently, as it's important to stay healthy and responsible during these crazy times. Still plenty to learn online to stay up while schools are down, though!

I am a student-focused tutor with experience working with a wide range of age groups and topics. I am devoted to serving in a mentorship role and helping develop individuals through a hands-on, personal teaching style.

I graduated from UIC in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Physics with a minor on mathematics; subsequently I received my Master of Science in Physics, also from UIC in 2007. I obtained much of my first experiences with teaching and tutoring while working on my masters. My favorite subject to tutor is physics, of course. One of my teaching techniques is to reveal certain mathematical "secrets" that many teachers, professors, and textbooks elude to. For instance, I will show the student the mathematical derivation or formula required for the subject matter, then actually derive it step by step leaving nothing out, and give several examples that I work out. I also have several bookshelves of textbooks from various subjects, mainly physics and mathematics. Education should be geared to and for the student, however some institutions are not set up that way. Students are the next generation of scientists, engineers, doctors, lawyers, etc. I am a proponent for helping under represented minorities and women, especially in the fields of science. I was born in Southern California, moved to the Chicago area in my late 20's, and I am bilingual with Spanish, however I've been out of practice for some time. My hobbies include playing guitar, building electronic gadgets, bike riding, traveling, reading, surfing, among other things.

Hola! My name is Lauren, and I am a high school Spanish teacher. I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and Latino/a Studies from the University of Michigan, and a Master of Arts degree in Secondary Education from the University of Michigan. I have traveled to Argentina and Spain to study Spanish as well!

I was introduced to VT by a friend. I love interacting with students and share my knowledge with them, watch them learn subjects and succeed. I enjoy the results that we get out of our shared effort.

I am a firm believer in the motto "It takes a village to raise a child." It is important that we work together as teachers, tutors, parents and family to ensure each child gets the best education possible. My role as a teacher and tutor is to discover each student's individual learning style and tailor the learning material and curriculum to meet the needs of that individual student so that they are able to achieve personal success.

I am a senior at Brandeis University. I am on the pre-health track majoring in Health: Science, Society, and Policy and Biology and minoring in Hispanic Studies. I am also President of a Brandeis Volunteers Around the World, which aims to bring volunteering opportunities to students at Brandeis, as well as providing services to underserved countries internationally. In addition, I am also a part of General Tutoring in which I voluntarily tutor a high school sophomore every week in mathematics. Although I am comfortable in tutoring a variety of subjects, I am most interested in Mathematics and Science. From my experience in teaching, I have found that the most successful method for a student's success is additional practice. I believe that every student has the opportunity for success given the appropriate resources. My future plans include attending medical school and my hobbies include biking and reading.

In the fall of 2007, I fulfilled a dream by attending the University of Notre Dame. There I majored in Classics and Pre-Professional Studies. Following my college career, I obtained a Masters degree in Biomedical Sciences from Midwestern University in Downers Grove.I have always been fascinated with biology and chemistry and how microscopic interactions lead to the world we see around us. I love learning about all areas of science and this passion drives my excitement for tutoring. As someone who was able to go to his dream school, I am committed to helping everyone I tutor to have the same opportunity.

I have recently completed my Bachelor's in Biomedical Engineering and currently planning on doing Masters. During my high school years, I worked as a volunteer teacher in different welfare schools. This experience developed my interest in teaching and since then, I have been involved in tutoring students of high school, college and university level. While I have helped students in variety of subjects, but I am most passionate about Maths, Science, and Physiology.In my opinion, an ideal tutor needs to have a lot of patience, be able to boost his/her student's confidence and should have the ability to identify the simplest solution of problems. I am a firm believer of education, believing it to be absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life and a better society. My hobbies includes calligraphy, playing board games and reading non fiction.
