The student and I focused on a general review of math skills that will help ensure she is prepared to begin algebra this fall. We covered fractions -- their properties, definitions, operations, and conversions. We also reviewed factorization and factor trees. We will continue until we have completed prerequisite topics, and then we can begin introducing ideas that will put her ahead and prepare for high school math. At the end of the session, I gave her a reading assignment so we can begin her summer reading journal for the "Secret Life of Bees."

He is very good at mental math, but needs help with factoring and working with exponents. I then assigned some book chapters for him to review and to gather more old tests for our next session Thursday. We will also go over geometry in the future.
