About Me

In general, I always enjoy helping others because part of my nature is to be of service to others. In particular, I have a passion for tutoring because it allows me the chance to witness first-hand the manifold ways in which a student progresses due not only to my efforts, but also due to his/her hard work. I have tutored high school, university and non-traditional students in the following courses: Algebra I &II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Trigonometry, Calculus, and Statistics. I have taught at the high school level for three years, and have two years of experience working as an adjunct instructor at the community college level. I received my BS in Mathematics with a Physics minor from St. Mary's University in San Antonio and my MS in Mathematics with a Statistics concentration from The University of Texas at San Antonio. I describe my teaching style as that of helping the student to see the big picture, while keeping him/her focused on the details by continually asking the 'why' questions. I firmly believe that each person learns in a slightly different way, so I try to identify that way in which a student learns best and thus align my efforts accordingly. I enjoy golfing, bird-watching, playing chess, reading biographies and other historical works.
