About Me

I have a B.A. in Mathematics from UT Austin. Over the past six years, I've tutored a wide range of subjects (Math, Physics, Chemistry) to a variety of age-groups, from high school to older college adults, and a variety of academic achievement levels, from the highly motivated student to those with learning disabilities. I enjoy tutoring Calculus the most because of how useful it is for such a large number of careers and disciplines, but I'm very comfortable tutoring any high school or lower-division college math course (e.g. Pre-Calculus, Trigonometry, Algebra II, Geometry, Algebra, Probability, Statistics, SAT Prep, and Logic).My teaching style is very relaxed and easy-going, although I typically challenge my students to understand mathematical and scientific principles in the context of real-world problems, and I encourage critical thinking and problem solving whenever possible. My primary academic interest is string theory, which tries to combine Einstein's theory of gravity and general relativity with quantum mechanics, the physics of the subatomic realm. One of my advantages as a math tutor, in particular, is that I have first hand experience with many of the applications of mathematics, i.e. to Astronomy, Physics, Economics, and even to "soft" sciences like Psychology through Statistics. Getting students to understand the broader picture of why math is important has proven to be very effective in providing positive motivation for learning math. Math and science aside, I'm interested in health, nutrition, economics, psychology, philosophy, and music. I read 1 to 2 books a week, and I'm also a tournament chess player. Tutoring Subjects
