Learning is the key to success. That is why I am passionate in helping students to enjoy the learning process. I am currently a student at Brigham Young University studying business, so I know how hard it can be to learn about a subject that is difficult, or from a teacher who does not connect well with their students. That is why I strive to teach my students by the principal I learned from Alfred Mercier "What we learn with pleasure we never forget". I learned this first hand as I lived in South America for two years. It was a lot easier to learn Spanish when I could find ways to make it enjoyable! Spanish is my favorite subject to teach because it is such a valuable tool to have in this day and age where people are coming together from all over the world. I also teach other subjects such as accounting, marketing, and algebra. I hope that I will be able to teach my students in a fun, exciting way so that they will be able to retain this valuable knowledge for years to come.My interests include football, basketball, guitar, wakeboarding, scouting, and other outdoor activities.

Hello! I'm Garrett and I live in Salt Lake City and I want to help you understand topics in natural science and mathematics. I have a bachelor's degree in geological science (geophysics) from University of Colorado Boulder with a minor in mathematics. Part of my success in college came from the preparation I had from taking AP Calculus and Physics courses in high school. I'm a huge fan of visual aids and examining real-life examples and applications when teaching. I worked as a learning assistant in an astronomy lab course and as a tutor for student athletes in geology while attending CU. I've been honing the ability to craft perfect analogies to help you make sense of mathematical or physical concepts.

After going through the swamp of academia, I can tell you that there are many skills that add up to a good student. More importantly though, you can learn things that will benefit you beyond an algebra test or a five paragraph essay. My goal is to help you discover those aspects of yourself, so you can be empowered to face challenges within and beyond school!I'm here to help you hone your stylistic choices to produce high quality writing. I've written a large body of work in many styles, and I can help you hone your writing to be cohesive, clear, and focused on the ideas underneath. Writing can be very fun when you get into the zone, but it takes practice. Let me help you develop the skills it takes to consistently write your way through all kinds of subject matter.I also tutor several other subjects. Take a look at my list and see if we could be a good fit. I'm excited to help you!

Hi, I'm Matthew. I look forward to getting to know you or someone you love, as well as helping them succeed in their endeavors to master whatever tests, subjects, or ideas they wish. I am a student at Brigham Young University, and am currently an undecided major. I have a passion for tutoring and helping my pupils succeed. I am charismatic, fun, hardworking, spontaneous, and reliable! I am more than a guy with a brain; I have an ability to connect with people on a personal level. As you will see, my various tactics and approaches when it comes to tutoring are as effective as they are unique and engaging.

I am currently a doctoral candidate in clinical psychology, but I have been tutoring ever since I was in elementary school. Because not everyone learns the same way, I feel that it is easy for students to miss certain tidbits or whole subjects in the classroom, and it can quickly feel like it is too late to catch up. My goal is to work together to pick up the pieces that were lost or are close, but not quite there: learning the way you want to learn and the way you learn best rather than having topics taught at you.For standardized testing: I have taken the special classes and labored through the workbooks to prepare for taking the exams myself. The trick is to learn the test and know how to beat it with the right tools, and I am eager to pass along what I have learned from years of studying for and taking standardized tests. There is nothing quite like sitting down in the testing room and feeling cool, calm, and collected, and I want to help others feel confident, not terrified, when they take their exams.

I am a senior at Brigham Young University under an academic scholarship and working towards my English Teaching B.A. After obtaining my degree I plan to become a high school English teacher. I have been tutoring students for seven years in various subject fields, particularly in remedial English and ESL classes as an in-class peer tutor. I also love to tutor for the ACT and want to help as many students as possible realize their biggest dreams within the world of academia (and encourage their other dreams outside of it!). I enjoy tutoring because I love to help students build confidence in school, and help them learn how to enjoy learning. There are so many students that are discouraged and disheartened in the typical classroom setting because they aren't able to receive the individualized attention they require. I love to relate academic concepts to the student's personal life and teach them better habits for eventual success on their own. I am a firm believer that everyone has a unique learning style, and I like to help students discover what theirs is and the ways that they can change their study habits and how they participate in the classroom. Once the student learns how they learn best, they become much more confident going forward in school and feel a significant reduction in anxiety during tests (a challenge many students face). When I'm not focused on my own school work or helping others excel in theirs, I love to read, create paintings with watercolor pencils, and participate in musical theatre.

I graduated from Weber State University in Computer Science and Math. Growing up I was always the family member to go to for math questions, now I would like to show other students that math isn't so scary as long as you put the time and effort into understanding the concepts. When I am not tutoring, I love to be outside hiking with my dog or checking out the latest blockbuster film.

Writing empowers you. I know that can be hard to believe. Most assignments can feel arbitrary, many classes pretend that composition is detached from purpose or audience, and written work can feel like jumping through hoops. As a result, our current approach to composition often teaches students the rules while also teaching them to hate writing.I believe a better path is possible. My focus is teaching students to master the technical aspect of writing (especially for academic assignments), learn to love the process of composition, and understand how writing well will help them reach their own goals. Everyone has a voice, and my goal is to help students find that voice and understand how the craft of writing can help them share it.I believe in engaged learning practices, and had the opportunity to work with Dr. Anton Tolman to write a book on this topic. My work as a TA, creative writing community leader, and tutor have given me extensive experience in working with students one on one to craft truly excellent essays. That said, I keep the ball in the student's court. It's never enough to help students get through assignments. Instead, it is my goal to help them gain all the tools they need to tackle the work on their own in the future.
