Ways Sports Use Math

  • Multiply to keep score (3 goals × 2 points each = 6 points).
  • Divide to make teams or groups with equal players.

Playing Fair

Math helps you play fair and have fun—everyone gets a turn or a prize!

Examples

  • If each of 5 players scores 4 points, the team has \(5 \times 4 = 20\) points.

  • 12 players are divided into 3 teams. Each team has \(12 \div 3 = 4\) players.
