I have a background in applied management, but am working towards becoming a certified teacher. I have experience both as a tutor and also working with children in different settings. I understand how tough certain subjects can be for students since I've been 'that student' myself. For me, my most challenging subject was science. This experience has helped me to recognize the challenges children go through in their education. Furthermore, parents want to help and work so hard, but can easily become overextended while trying to help their children with homework or lessons. This is where I come in! I work directly with children and cater specific teaching methods and strategies to each individual. I think it's important to figure out what makes each student tick and use this to inspire them. It's easy to get frustrated, but together, we can overcome this and achieve your goals!

"Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid (Albert Einstein) ." Every student can learn, just not in the same way or day. I understand and have experienced that feeling of frustration and confusion while learning due to a "cookie-cut tutor". Therefore, after all these years of tutoring, I highly value the differences (race, gender, ethnicity, learning styles/speeds) between my students. The essence of my tutoring principles are built on what I hold to be irreplaceable in the process of learning: ethics and morals. While many tutors accept jobs because of money, I tutor because I sincerely value education and personal growth. Therefore, I respect all of my clients because by seeking a tutor, they are already taking the first step to become a better version of themselves. This respect for all my students is the foundation of our sessions because I treat my students as equals. My goal is to create proactive sessions for my students because I want to make an impact on every student's experience with learning.I have been told by multiple clients that I have good interpersonal skills. I can create a safe and engaging learning environment for my students to promote questions and mature in. This way, my students will perceive themselves as a part of the "growth process" instead of an audience of it. While I believe that the influence of education is infinite, my client has to desire it first. After all, the only person fully responsible for your education is yourself. Given this, I will always put in 100% of my capabilities to support my clients using my knowledge and experience. I am very flexible, self-reflective and resourceful. My broad range of clients (ADHD students, international students, children, teenagers and adults who are in professional fields) have given me the opportunity to develop crucial traits such as patience, dedication and empathy.I look forward to tutoring every student, however if you are expecting a tutor who will only tell you the answer, that is not me. Instead, I will throw questions and examples at you until you understand the concept and discover the right answer.Education is not knowing the facts. Instead, it is training the mind to think.

Hello. I am a graduate of multiple STEM programs and have a passion for lifelong learning and helping others along the way.I first graduated with a B.Sc. Chemistry (minor Physics) from the University of Calgary where I also completed an M.Eng. in Geomatics Engineering focussing on digital signal processing of 2D remote sensing images as well as seismic geophysical data. I have also worked in the electronics field for two years having completed an electronics diploma at SAIT but was spurred on by interests in antenna radiation patterns that led me to a data processing positioning using InSAR technology later in life. I also graduated summa cum laude in civil engineering from the University of Ottawa with a minor in computing technology (management option) but also took options in biology and chemistry to go along with environmental engineering, fluid dynamics, statics, strength of materials and engineering math courses. I then went on to pursue a Masters in civil engineering at Carleton (in progress) where I am analyzing SAR data to detect ground movement above aquifers but also gained an outstanding teaching assistant nomination at the same time while completing a certificate in teaching methods specifically related to how students are motivated to learn in online environments. I worked six semesters as a teaching assistant and consider it to be the most rewarding employment that I have been involved with; I love helping students learn and make the most of their education while balancing all of life's busy requirements. All that is to say that I am dedicated to understanding the student from many different backgrounds and learning styles and helping them on their journey seeing them succeed.

I am a recent graduate of Boston University, where I received my Bachelor of Science in Secondary Social Studies Education. I have my Massachusetts teaching license for History, grades 5-12. For my student teaching practicum, I taught American History and US Government at a high school just south of Boston. I also spent four years working at the Boston University Undergraduate Admissions Office and therefore am well versed in the college application admissions process. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about History, Government, and college prep. I thoroughly enjoy working with students and feel that good learning only happens through a solid foundation of understanding if you don't understand Algebra 2, then you can't learn Calculus. Similarly, if you never learned about the Revolutionary War and the creation of the Constitution, then you can't properly learn about US Politics and Government. Additionally, I believe that a quality education is the key to not only a successful but a fulfilling and happy life. I am an avid politico and am currently working at a government affairs firm in downtown Washington, D.C; eventually I would like to have a job in education policy. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling to visit friends and family, running, hiking, and exploring Washington, D.C. Go Terriers!

It wasn't until I made it to college that I realized I wanted to be a scientist. As a high school student, I was exceptionally mediocre at school. Fortunately I was accepted to Western Washington University. It was my time at Western that I found what I was capable of. Chemistry, and mathematics are such daunting subjects, I never imagined I would be able to grasp them, after all academics were not my strong suit. Through hard work, endless study sessions, and a blossoming passion I was able to prevail and call myself a scientist. My dream is to one day become a professor of biochemistry; a pursuit near to my heart. Biochemical interpretations of the world around us fascinate me, and I would like to share my excitement for the subject with you.

I recently graduated magna cum laude from Hamilton College with a B.A. in Economics and Government, and I just finished my first year at Columbia Law School this past May. I ran several student organizations at Hamilton and gained a lot of experience teaching and mentoring younger students. I really enjoy getting to know my students and I like to bring a sense of humor to my lessons to help keep them engaged. I have tutored students ranging from 3rd grade to seniors in college and I have experience tutoring a variety of subjects, but my favorite subjects to tutor are Economics, LSAT prep, Government, Essay Editing, and Public Speaking. I also find advising on college or law school admissions really rewarding. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy basketball, football, hiking and the outdoors, movies, and cooking.

I graduated from the University of Portland with a Bachelor's in General Studies, with a focus on English and Psychology. Throughout my high school and college years I volunteered and later worked at a teen suicide hotline where, in addition to supporting teens in crisis, I taught lessons on mental health to middle schools and high schools and mentored over 100 teenage volunteers. My favorite subjects to tutor in are English, History, and Social Sciences. (I was also a theatre kid and have a soft spot for Drama!) As someone who struggled in their own education, I firmly believe that working with students to create an individualized approach that works best for them is the key to success. I hope to provide the educational support to struggling students that I wasn't afforded.
