How can a Physics tutor help you?

Physics is a natural science, which through observation and experimentation, attempts to find laws that govern the world that we live in. Some of the biggest achievements of our civilization have been thanks to the hard work and brilliance of physicists throughout the ages. In addition, the skills and knowledge first learned in physics class are applicable to a number of exciting career opportunities. Given all of this, physics is a popular class for both science-minded individuals and others. However, the field requires knowledge of many complex formulas and mathematical concepts, which means that some students may have a harder time than others in getting the most out of their physics class. If you feel like you could use some extra physics help, why not work with a tutor? For assistance in understanding your physics course in Omaha, contact Varsity Tutors today to get matched with a professional tutor.

When you work with a tutor, you'll be working on your schedule and in your favorite place to study. That could be somewhere around town, at your house, or even face-to-face online. Session Summaries by Physics Tutors

Omaha, NE Physics tutoring
We covered the basic concepts of springs, pendulums, and potential/ kinetic energy. At this point her homework was very basic and she had no problems using the equations or figuring out what to do. We reviewed the basic concepts to ensure that she fully understood the material, but I didn't see her having any trouble at all.

The student and I met to go over a set of introductory problems she had received from her teacher after her last exam. She mentioned that she received a 96 on her last exam (electrical circuits and charge), which I was very impressed with as these concepts can be a challenge for some students. The intro set of "pre-homework" contained problems and questions about waves, amplitudes, frequencies, and velocities of waves traveling. Some questions were more of a high level view of the topic (such as definitions, hypothetical problem situations such as jump rope, etc.), and some were calculations to find wavelength and velocity of a wave. The main concepts I wanted to ensure she left with were the concept of frequency, or Hertz, which she left understanding was cycles per second, and the velocity of a wave formula. We completed her homework set of problems which were relatively easy for her, since this was just an introduction to material which she has not covered yet but will this week.

Today the student and worked primarily on momentum, collisions, and energy conservation. We worked a number of practice problems that dealt with different types of collisions and using the law of conservation of energy to solve various types of problems.

In this session, the student and I reviewed periodic motion, involving pendulums, springs and waves. He had a quiz on the 24th, so we had a session earlier in the week than usual. He was very good with most of these; he just was a bit rusty to start out. After a few problems, he was moving through both conceptual and computational problems with ease. I think he'll have done well on this quiz.

Today we went over a review sheet of basic kinematics. The student said that his teacher hadn't gone over some of the material so I showed him how to manipulate the linear displacement equation. He picked it up pretty quickly and we moved seamlessly through the rest of the exercises. The student has a strong grasp on the physics we've been working on and I expect he will do very well on his next test.
