I have worked as a teacher for 8 years. I earned my B.A. in History from Colgate University. I also hold an M.A. in Childhood Education, with an extension for Middle School Mathematics from New York University, as well as an M.Ed. in Literacy Education from Hunter College.
I began my career as a 5th grade teacher in a middle school in Manhattan. In addition to helping my students succeed in essay writing, reading comprehension, and math, I have experience prepping 7th graders for the New York City Specialized High School Admissions Test.
I am currently in my 6th year as a 1st grade teacher in a K-8 school in Manhattan. At my school, I have had the opportunity to teach 1st-7th graders in after-school enrichment and test prep in Science, Literacy, Math, and Art.
Teaching 1st grade is extremely rewarding! Although my favorite subject to teach is Math, it is truly special to watch a first grader make huge advances in reading throughout the school year!
Life can get very busy, but I make sure to find the time to read every day! I also love tending to my garden, trying out new knitting techniques, and spending time with my family.
