The student had a review packet on conic section graphs and formulas, and completing the square, to go over. The student does well at graphing conic sections and finding the foci, vertices, etc. of the many different types of graphs. She is taking her test this week.

The student and I kept up our study of advanced integration techniques. He is still having trouble knowing exactly where to start with the trig integrals but I assigned him some trig identity review this week so that should help.

Tutoring review by Margaret in Spokane Valley, WA
A majority of tonight's session was spent merging the history exam timeline of events, important dates as listed on the exam notes, names of relevant people during the time period and the associated terms/ definitions. We used the timeline I had previously created to list the aforementioned items as they occurred, including the caliphs/ caliphates of the Arab Empire and the Golden Age. The student developed answers to the mock essay questions I created. We also discussed the study guide outline I made for the upcoming Chaucer exam. This will be a starting point for us to compile passage analysis data for tales. I shared a first glance article related to the philosophy essay that is due later this month. The student shared her score of A- on her first paper in this course - excellent job!! Very busy and long session, but it was very productive!

Tutoring review by Josh in Spokane Valley, WA
This was our second session. We started by going over some practice that the student did independently (addition, subtraction, and multiplication of fractions). Together, we practiced division of fractions. Next, we started going through some of the lessons from her Algebra course (Lecture 1 - Number Lines and Real Numbers; Lecture 2 - Intervals, Union, and Intersection; and Lecture 3 - Exponentials and Radicals). I am happy to report that she correctly answered almost all of the practice problems. I left her with some worksheets to practice fractions, decimals, and percentages. We plan to meet again on Wednesday.

The student had made great headway in recording her assignments. We created a study song for the life cycle of a star to the tune of Omi's "Cheerleader." Following, we had a conversation about the student's upcoming media project proposal where she shared her ideas with me and I pushed her to think through some of the specific details pertaining to the content of the video and execution.
