About Me

I am a recent graduate of the University of Montana’s Master of Fine Arts Creative Writing program where I edited a nationally recognized literary journal and a small press. I received my Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Bachelor of Arts in International Studies at the University of Iowa. Since graduating, I have done a wide-range of activities. I worked on the United States Senate Education Committee supporting major legislative reauthorizations; in particular, the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, commonly known as No Child Left Behind, and other legislation aimed at improving education in America. I am excited to help improve my students’ writing—I can help with all kinds of essays, literature analyses (especially American and British literature), admissions essays, and creative writing! I have a strong background in teaching writing—I have taught at the university level, as well as having worked with everyone from elementary-aged students to adults. Creative writing is my specialty and I am eager to help with poetry, fiction, or nonfiction!
