I graduated from the University of Maryland College Park with a major in Neurobiology & Physiology with a minor in Human Development. I believe interactive learning is the best form of retaining knowledge but I am also able to cater to many learning styles. Helping people understand complex subjects with fun memorizing skills is the best part of teaching!

I am a sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania likely majoring in Sociology and minoring in Statistics. I have tutored students of all ages in a range of subjects, primarily math or standardized testing related. I worked at an SAT camp for two summers, including this past summer, so I am familiar with the new SAT. I have tutored students in all the subjects on the SAT. I have also worked with elementary students on basic math and reading comprehension and early high school students on Algebra I and geometry. I love working with students to help them get to the point where they are able to stand on their own two feet; my favorite part is probably when they are confident enough in their own abilities that they no longer need me!

I have three years of experience in bench genetics and clinical research. I really enjoy sciences and writing and have good eye for essay editing. My teaching philosophy is hinged on three main tenets. First, the world is a fascinating place. Lady Macbeth, the Krebs cycle, derivatives, the Spanish Civil War, the best way to pass a soccer ball -- those are all opportunities for wonder. Second, young people are full of breathtaking, wonderful ideas. I can honestly say that being in a classroom full high school students kept me more intellectually engaged (and delighted) than my studies at Harvard. Finally, words have the capacity to transform us. Whether we're reading a passage by Faulkner or writing a straightforward five paragraph essay, we're participating in a subtle form of sorcery. When students realize the power of their own minds and the power of the written word, English class becomes more like candy than medicine. That said, from my eleven years of teaching high school English, I know that not all students agree with the above tenets. For those students, I work to make the material relevant, palatable, and painless.

I am an undergraduate from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in both Applied Mathematics and Economics.I worked at a start up website Expii that taught math, and I found I enjoyed it a lot. So I decided to get a more hands on approach by teaching math topics to anyone who needs help.My teaching style would focus more on solving problems with practice. I would have you show me how you solve problems and give you help along the way. I like to make things fun and will try my best to make any of the math as interesting as I can.
