About Me

Hi! My name is Polly (she/her) and I am current a Graduate Student at New York University Gallatin School of Individualized Study studying Anthropology of the Arts. I am a professional contemporary dancer and absent the pandemic, I dance for a company in Sweden. I have been a tutor since I was in the 10th grade, when I was a peer tutor and a writing center tutor. I love tutoring elementary and middle school students in all subjects. As for high school students, I enjoy tutoring English (including honors and AP), History (including honors and AP), Psychology, Art History, and Graphic Design. I have experience tutoring college students in Art History as well. I have a background in dance instruction for styles such as ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, and contemporary dance, as well as helping high school students with their applications to dance colleges. My favorite thing about tutoring is helping students develop confidence in their abilities. I always learn something new when working with students and this helps me be a better person! Fun facts about me: I have a dog named Theo and he is super cute, my favorite color is yellow, and in my free time I love to explore New York City on my bike. I have 8 years of experience teaching dance extensively with elementary aged children. While I was pursuing my undergraduate degree, I was a volunteer in the New York Public School after-school programs where I helped students primarily with reading, writing, homework completion. review of key concepts, and organization skills. Throughout my undergraduate career I took several Psychology courses, such as Intro to Psychology, Child and Adolescent Mental Studies, and History of Psychology. As a Dance major, we had required Anatomy component and went on to continue my studies of anatomy and human physiology. I am open to online tutoring throughout the country. Due to COVID-19, I am very cautious about in-person tutoring but am open to discussing this possibility in New York City. I am happy to answer any questions you may have!
