About Me

I am passionate about sharing mathematics with people at all levels. I used to be a student who absolutely hated math, but one day, someone asked me why I hated math and I didn't have an answer. So I went searching for an answer and I'm still on that journey, although I'm sure the initial answer has changed. My approach to tutoring is all about building confidence. I do this through enriching the "math toolkit" that begins when one first learns about numbers, guided practice, and independent practice. Enriching the math toolkit can range anywhere from learning new ways to solve problems to learning how certain formulas work so you're more comfortable with them. Guided practice involves working on problems with me, talking through your thought process, and breaking problems down into smaller steps. Independent practice problems give you a chance to show what things you absorbed well and what things might still need work. I can tutor a wide range of subjects from elementary math all the way to graduate level mathematics. I have taught college courses like College Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus 1, and a GRE Math section preparatory course. I have tutored students for the SAT and GRE math sections. I have been a teaching assistant for Calculus 2. I also worked in a tutoring lab for two years as part of my graduate program where I tutored a range of college level math courses, including those necessary for a math major such as Real Analysis, Abstract Algebra, Topology, and more. I also recently ran a preparatory class for the ISEE math sections for parents interested in sending their children to independent schools.
