I am a recent graduate of Washington State University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a minor in Business Administration. I enjoy working with students and introducing them to beginning engineering concepts. Without such an influence in my life,I would have never discovered engineering. I have spent every summer for last nine years volunteering for youth camps and working with children ages 8-14.My passion lies in math and its importance in our daily lives. One of the major road bumps that students face is realizing when to ask for help. In my early years of college I realized this to be true. In mathematics especially, students tend to get frustrated and give up. I feel it is important to present mathematical concepts in a different ways, appealing to each student's individual learning style. I am excited to work with students and help them accomplish their academic goals!

I graduated from Pacific Lutheran University with my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology (concentration: family and gender) and a minor in Global Studies (cultural diversity and transnational movement) in 2010 and then from University of Puget Sound with my Masters of Education (school counseling) in 2013. Over the past 10 years I have tutored students in an array of subjects in the United States, Africa, and Latin America. I am a middle school guidance counselor and love see students progress and having fun while working hard. I firmly believe that with enough time and practice any student can tackle any subject they put their mind to. I tutor an array of subjects but my favorite subjects to tutor are math and writing. In my spare time I enjoy Seattle sports, reading, exploring Washington, and hanging out with my kitten, Diego.

I earned a Bachelors of Science in Physics at the University of North Texas. While attending, I tutored for the physics department and instructed labs. I tutor mainly physics and math. My favorite subject to tutor is projectile motion and the laws of kinematics. I want show the student how to learn independently. Giving them answers to problems will not help them. Besides tutoring, I enjoy activities relating to the outdoors. Thus includes camping, hiking, kayaking, canoeing and more! I also enjoy playing the guitar. I have worked teaching biology, physics and algebra at the high school level, and for the last two years, I have worked as a substitute teacher for middle and high school students for a Pierce County school district. I am Certified by the State of Washington to teach Science at the secondary level and to teach math at the middle school level. I believe in a student centered approach to teaching where personal interests and learning styles are taken into account. I also teach Tai Chi and the Tai Chi sword form. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy online video games, science fiction (and science fact!) television, and I have been known to go to comic book conventions dressed as a mad scientist.

After three years of background in civil engineering, I elected to modify my major to continue my interest in a career in math education. I am from Tacoma, Washington, and love the west side.I believe education and tutoring must be approached from a subjective perspective, working with every student as a unique and dynamic learner. I believe that the student is the root of education, and the role of a teacher or tutor is to supplement the student's drive to help them be as successful as they can be. My expertise is in tutoring Ancient Greek and Latin for all levels of experience, and mathematics from elementary/middle school prealgebra to multivariate calculus, as well as writing strategies and development, and I also have a painting and drawing background and got a 5 on my AP studio art portfolio

I believe students learn the best when they are part of the process, meeting their needs where they are at. With how schooling has been the past 2 years, I double down on this statement. A student learns best when met at their level and then supported from there. I like to incorporate social & emotional learning where and when I am able. The student has to have their basic needs met, prior to being ready to absorb and attain curriculum. I am excited to work on this platform and continue reaching learners.
