I've taught and tutored math and humanities for almost a decade. While in college at University of Chicago, where I graduated top of my class in philosophy, I tutored math, and I spearheaded a program that taught philosophy to middle and high schoolers. Also in college I took coursesand received top marksin creative writing, argumentative writing, and speech writing. After graduating, I spent a year teaching high school English and test prep in Colorado. I have a deep passion for teaching and subsequently seeing my students light up as they succeed. I'm a hiker, a reader, a giant nerd, and full of terrible jokes that will (shockingly) make tutoring fun.

I am a Colorado State University student in Mechanical Engineering. I work as a Physics and Calculus tutor on Campus both privately and during office hours. I am also an Engineering Mentor for the Incoming students in Engineering each year. I have experience with courses from chemistry to mathematics and physics. I am in Pi Tau Sigma, the mechanical engineering honor society, and genuinely love the subject matter with which I work.I also have a minor in Business Admin as I had originally begun a business degree and then transferred to the college of engineering. Therefore, I am also prepared to tutor in business math (statistics, calculus, finance) as well as management or introductory business coursework.I hope to earn my Master's and PhD in engineering eventually, but I also like hiking, sports, running and just about anything athletic or outdoors. Working on cars and learning new areas of STEM, like 3-D printing, are also hobbies.I take my job seriously; I have seen many students achieve grades they were ecstatic about, but also I have seen rising self-confidence and independent problem solving skills rise. I have experience as a full time Chinese Immersion Teacher and have taught Chinese for many years. I enjoy working with beginning learners and continuing learners in Chinese. I've taught various age level students: adults, young children, and all the way up to college students. I am a native Chinese speaker. I grew up in China and speak standard Chinese. I am also a second language learner; therefore, I understand the challenges one face when learning another language. My teaching experience will also help you grasp the skills and tricks of memorizing the the tones, vocabulary, and sentence structure. I do hope to work with you.

I graduated from Hendrix College, a small liberal arts college in Arkansas, in 2013. I attained a degree in Environmental Biology with honors. I love all things biology, ecology, and botany. I love to see students learn about and become interested in the sciences. Therefore, I tutor in all levels of biology, ecology, environmental science, and ACT science prep. Writing is an integral part of science education and understanding, so I am also interested in helping students with their writing, both for science and non-science classes. Writing is a delicate process, but one that can be learned with the right help. It is my hope that I can encourage students to write creatively but with a strong grammatical and structural base. I tutor in English and college essay writing and will help with essay editing. My overall tutoring style is one that is fun but serious. While students learn in many different ways, I think being comfortable with their tutor or teacher is the most important aspect of learning. I want the student to feel free to ask as many questions as they need or want without feeling they are failing. Some topics take longer to master, and that is okay! Outside of tutoring, I enjoy hiking, playing disc golf, crafting, and playing some N64.

I have a BA in Math from Wittenberg University and a Masters in Applied Statistics from the University of Alabama. I have been tutoring part-time for 8 years in Austin, TX and now here in Denver. I tutor the following subjects: algebra, discrete/finite math, geometry, and statistics (business, psych).My approach is to tutoring is about one thing: relatability. I really try to understand the student's issues and identify with them. This puts the student in a comfortable place, where no question feels like a dumb question. Once you get there, you can make real progress.Personal interests: sports of all sorts (i'm a huge Colts, Pacers, Dodgers, and Crimson Tide fan), gaming, snowboarding, reading crime fiction, watching pretty much everything on Comedy Central.

I am currently a third year dental student at the CU Dental School and I would one day love to become a Pediatric dentist! I absolutely love working with kids and I think that becoming a teacher/tutor can be a valuable tool to one day use in my practice. Although I have a strong background in math and science, I also love to read and even dabble in some Spanish. I can work with all age groups and I think every student can teach me something as well! Originally from California, I spent much of my academic career there, earning my B.A. in Psychology at San Francisco State University and starting graduate studies in Psychology (Behavioral Neuroscience focus) at Sacramento State University. Since moving to Fort Collins, Colorado in 2011, I have obtained an M.S. at Colorado State University with the focus of my studies and research being Cognitive Psychology. I have taught small labs and lecture courses at CSU for the past four years as a grad student, where the main skill objectives for the classes were: writing APA style, psychology concepts, designing and conducting research, and analyzing research using statistics. I have also had opportunities to teach high school students during a few different summer programs, teaching such topics as Sleep and Dreaming, and The Brain. I enjoy mentoring students as well and have had many discussions with undergraduate research assistants about preparing and applying for grad school, GREs, writing personal statements, etc. Outside of academia, I love to get outdoors, either hiking and climbing in the summer, or snowboarding in the winter.Thank you!
