What prompted you to seek economics tutoring?

Just spent the past hour and a half studying micro-economics with my tutor Patrick for my final in a couple hours. He showed great knowledge of the subject and saved my countless hours from trying to find the formulas and correct explanations for my troubling problems and confusions.

Fen made all the difference. My son who was panic stricken in preparing for an extremely difficult economics final was able to pass the course and graduate from NYU. Fen was not only incrdeiblly knowledgeable but was also an amazing tutor. Patient and able to find ways to help Ben commit the vast amount of information to memory. Varsity was wonderful in every way and we appreciate having had them to turn to.

How can a Economics tutor help you?

Economics is not just about financial considerations, it's also about evaluating choices and making decisions. Because of this, the field covers both a technical and a philosophical range that may take some effort to understand. On the corporate side, it covers terms like goods, conspicuous consumption, and durability versus non-durability. From a wider perspective, it also covers opportunity costs, utility, and the paradox of value. All of this may get a bit complex, but fortunately an expert economics tutor in Omaha, NE, may help you hone your skills and try to ace your course.

When you work with a private tutor, you'll get targeted instruction aimed specifically at those terms and concepts you feel unsure of. Struggling to understand the ups and downs of the stock market? Alright with microeconomics, but want more help with macroeconomics? Your tutor may spend as much time as you want covering the answers to your questions. If you're not even sure what it is you don't know, your tutor may try to help you there as well. Using assessment tools, your tutor may find where your weak points are and work with you to build up your knowledge base. Whatever area it is you need help with, an expert economics tutor in Omaha may develop a study plan to try to help you make the most of your abilities to succeed in your course.

Session Summaries by Economics Tutors

Economics Tutoring review by Cortland in Omaha, NE
In today's economics session, the student spent the majority of our time applying our content from Lesson 6 to the Lesson 6 course assignments. He began with the matching quiz, and ended with the multiple choice quiz. Prior to taking the quiz we reviewed national income accounting, measures of inflation, and the role of the Federal Reserve Bank. Through the review it is apparent that he is struggling to retain information. I believe reviewing/ rereading notes prior to sessions is one way to remedy this. He did ask several questions this session though, which did show signs of engagement with the material. In addition to econ, we also reviewed his math coursework again. I corrected a few of his Lesson 4 practice problems, and we reworked them out together. I believe we addressed the misconceptions. The practice I left him with were problems 1-5.

We covered price discrimination, two part pricing, and price leadership. I will be providing the student with steps to solve a price leadership problem. I will also be providing steps for the two part tariff problem we started.

Economics Tutoring review by Jonathan in Omaha, NE
The student and I studied for her upcoming test. We went over game theory, how to set up games, how to play them out, diagram them, solve them, and critically analyze them. We also worked on some agency and information asymmetry. She seemed to be on top of most of the material, and I expect she has a fairly good base off of which to continue learning game theory. We will most likely meet again before her final to go over some of that information, and I fully expect her to ace it. As always, it was a pleasure to work with her.

The student and I worked through an exercise to help him understand where the various costs that go into the cost curves for diagrams come from, and I prepared a spreadsheet that will allow him to see how various scenarios work out for "price-taker" and "price-seeker" firms. We can use this to move forward on chapters 10-13, which really seem to have him nervous. We will put off doing the problem sets on these chapters until after he has had a chance to let Chapter 9, the key chapter, sink in.

Economics Tutoring review by Nathan in Omaha, NE
We covered concepts in an introductory microeconomics course, such as profit maximization, perfect competition, deadweight loss, and efficiency. The student initially struggled with the mathematical side of it. She had a great attitude and was willing to learn. I incorporated some memorization techniques that I recalled from when I was learning the material.

Economics Tutoring review by Elnora in Omaha, NE
The student and I worked through a set of approximately 27 finance questions and problems, and again, many of them included multiple steps, problems, etc. All primarily focused on the time value of money applications, and while there were several that continued to cover net present value and the basic present value principles, there were others that focused on more complex applications of these concepts such as those related to perpetuities, perpetuities paid "not every year," and growing annuities. We finally covered problems related to APR, EAR, and periodic discount rates.
