About Me

I graduated from North Carolina State University in 2020 with a 4.0 as a history major with a minor in Middle East Studies. I also held the position of tutor with NCSU's Academic Support Program for Student-Athletes from 2019 to 2020. The challenges of tutoring so many students with such a wide range of interests, abilities, and motivations led me to focus on imparting critical thinking skills as a vital aspect of learning. I recently completed my MA program at UNC at Chapel Hill in Middle East Studies where I also worked as a Teaching Assistant and Graduate Research consultant. I tailor my lesson plans to meet the individual student's needs with the overall objective of teaching my students to think deeply and critically. As a non-traditional student, I am keenly aware that people learn differently depending on subjects, goals, and personal motivation. My goal is to help the students with whom I work to discover their own learning styles and to develop the study habits that work for them. I understand the struggles and difficulty of tackling subjects with which we are unfamiliar or (let's be honest) not really interested. I encourage all my students to view our sessions as a safe space where they may feel free to be completely honest with me about their learning preferences.
