I work hard to ensure that my students understand the basic concepts of the material as well as real world examples where this math would be valuable. I work to ensure that they have the best techniques and practical skills to perform well on tests and to be able to do the homework on their own after our sessions are over. I take pride in the accomplishments and skills my students gain through our tutoring sessions.

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

I want students to be able to improve their grades and improve their study habits. I strive to help students study smarter and learn material more easily. I want the students to truly master their studies.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I would go over past lessons and identify what areas we would need to work on. I would establish a study plan based on upcoming quizzes and tests. I would work closely with their schedule to ensure their success.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I would focus on developing study skills and independent thinking. I would work with them on how to approach a new problem and see how it relates to problems they have solved in the past.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

I would help students identify the value in doing a good job with this subject. I would help them see how this material is valuable in the real world.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

I would take the concept and break it into parts which the student does know and those parts the student needs to work on. I will patiently help the student to learn unfamiliar concepts and apply them.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

I work with them to identify what they do know and what they are struggling with. I help them break down words into components that they understand.
