The ability to clearly and concisely convey information is crucial to achievement well beyond the classroom. I love helping people hone confident writing and communication skills.
I graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in Journalism. I am passionate about writing and language, and I continue to write professionally. My work has been featured on Longform.org, a website that curates the best of national magazine journalism.
I spent four years working in Asia and I have traveled to 25 countries. I love Geography and History. My teaching philosophy is to look at it not merely as a recitation of facts, but as a means of understanding cultures and politics different from our own.
I have taught people from age 4 to 40, in one-on-one, small group and large classroom settings. I spent a year in Taiwan as an ESL teacher. I enjoy students of all ages, but there’s a special place in my heart for early readers. I am a proponent of the Words Their Way approach to Reading Comprehension. There is something uniquely wonderful about helping someone learn to read.
