About Me

I recently graduated from Washington University in St. Louis, majoring in Education Studies and Psychological & Brain Studies, and minoring in Music. I intend to be a teacher, and love learning new things! I believe science is more than just a body of facts--it's a way of thinking. I hope to empower students to see their world through a scientific lens, and support students by taking on a growth mindset. Having studied the psychology of learning, I recognize that teaching students about how they learn is key to success in any subject. In addition to my experiences as a tutor and a mentor, I was a teaching fellow at an intensive teaching fellowship called Breakthrough Collaborative in San Francisco in which I learned specific teaching strategies such as strategic questioning, thought process verbalization, sentence starting, role reversal, etc. In addition to teaching, I have conducted research on education policy and teacher feedback systems. I am finishing an honors thesis on the importance of preschool teacher-child relationship quality in the development of depression, and hope to work at a research institution before becoming a teacher. In my spare time, I enjoy playing piano and flute. I taught piano for 3 years in high school and have been a part of at least one band/choir/orchestra since I was 5 years old! My favorite music to listen to when I study is the Bach Cello Suites.
