Hello! My name is Brendan and I am a committed educator who believes success is possible for anyone. Through education an individual can change their life and develop skills to change the life of others. It is my goal in life to pass on my content area skills and my life experience to benefit everyone I come in contact with.

I am a dedicated honors graduate of The Art Institute of Seattle, where I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Media Arts and Animation with a focus on concept art and design. Since graduation, I have discovered a fondness for teaching students the "world of art" and making the subject fun and personalized for each individual's goals. While I teach a broad range of art subjects, I am most passionate about illustration (graphic design) and animation. In my experience helping struggling students find a passion and purpose for themselves in relation to art, I always seem to have the most fun (with remarkable advancements) engaging with each individual to make the class personalized for them while still hitting the requirements and standards. By making the class personalized it gives each of my students the opportunity to see how art can be used in their life, no matter how "unrelated" it may be to their career goals. In my spare time, I enjoy testing out new technologies that can be used to enrich the art world such as augmented and/or virtual reality as well as simple hobbies like leisurely playing video games, working on passion projects, DIY for my lovely pets, and playing around with mechanical design concepts.

I have been working as a professional software engineer for over 10 years and I have taught computer science classes at a local community college for over 5 years. I have plenty of experience and strive to provide valuable real-world perspective for my students.I started teaching and tutoring simply because I truly find fulfillment in helping others to achieve their goals and learning. Computing is such an important field, and, in this industry, there is a real need for students to have as much understanding as possible not just about the programming tools, but also the techniques and skills needed for real-world software engineering.What my students most appreciate about me is that I bring real-world experience to the table. Along with being able to teach you how to accomplish a specific programming task in a given language, I can also help you understand how it fits in to the bigger picture, and the tradeoffs related to the different ways you could approach solving a given problem.I look forward to working with you and helping you along the path towards your goals, whatever they may be. I graduated from Hamline University in 2019. I majored in Biology and minored in Linguistics. While in school, I worked as a TA for intro-level biology courses. I enjoy tutoring in biology subjects and helping with English and writing.In college, I was diagnosed with ADHD after my symptoms began to impact my schoolwork, so I would love to help other people with ADHD learn to navigate their weaknesses and lean into their strengths in regards to school. I was also a caretaker for people with autism for 3+ years and would love to work with students with autism as well.My goal in tutoring is to help students learn how to study and how to learn, because everyone learns differently and it's difficult to understand what your learning strengths are without help, especially for neurodiverse people. I don't want to just help you answer questions, but also to help you know what the right questions to ask are.
