2nd Grade Science

Exploring life cycles, weather patterns, and basic scientific inquiry for second grade students.

Practical Applications

Making a Weather Chart

Track the Weather Like a Scientist

Keeping a weather chart helps you see how weather changes over days and weeks.

What You Need

  • Paper or a notebook
  • Markers or crayons
  • Ruler

How To Do It

  1. Draw a chart with days of the week at the top.
  2. Each day, draw a picture or write words for the weather (sunny, rainy, cloudy, etc.).
  3. After a week, look for patterns. Was it sunny more than rainy?

Why It's Useful

You’ll get better at predicting what to wear, and you’ll learn how scientists collect information.

Examples

  • Drawing clouds, raindrops, or suns each day on your chart.

  • Noticing that Wednesdays are often windy in your town.
