Understanding Odd and Even Numbers

What Makes a Number Odd or Even?

Odd numbers can't be split into two equal groups, but even numbers can!

How to Tell

  • Even numbers end in 0, 2, 4, 6, 8.
  • Odd numbers end in 1, 3, 5, 7, 9.

Why Does It Matter?

Knowing if a number is odd or even helps with sharing and dividing things equally.

Fun Activities

Try grouping toys or snacks into pairs and see which numbers are even or odd!

Examples

  • 4 is even because it can be split into 2 and 2.

  • 7 is odd because you can't split it into two equal groups.
