Checking Your Work

Making Sure You're Right

Always look over your math work to make sure it makes sense. You can check by doing the problem backwards (like adding to check subtraction), or just by reading your answer out loud.

Checking helps you catch mistakes and become a better math detective!

Examples

  • After solving 9 - 5 = 4, check by adding 4 + 5 to see if you get 9.

  • Count again to make sure you didn’t miss any numbers.
