I am a student at Eastern Washington University. I have my Associates of Arts and I am working on my Bachelors in Secondary Mathematics with a minor in Secondary Art. I have experience working with migrant students for Eastern's College Assistance Migrant Program, where students from migrant and seasonal farm worker backgrounds have access to resources to help them during their first year in college. I am passionate about helping students because I had passionate influences in my life that I aspire to. I want to instill a desire to learn in students I am lucky enough to work with. I tutor mathematics, specifically I tutor middle school math, pre-algebra, algebra, and pre-calculus. I find that a deeper knowledge in specific subject areas is better than knowing less about a variety of subjects. I think that many people struggle to see in which ways they can incorporate math into their daily lives personally. It is because people struggle to realize the personal significance of math that I strive to answer the dreaded question, "when will I actually ever use this?" I strongly believe in incorporating everyday life experiences in mathematics to help students with comprehension and retention. In my spare time, I enjoy drawing, swimming, camping, video games, and window shopping.
