Amalia Fernand is an environmental educator and world explorer who makes classes come alive with stories from her real-life adventures, props from her science shelf, and live program animals. The founder of Nature Explorers International, she has developed dozens of nature camps and classroom programs to inspire students to explore the world around them, appreciate wildlife, and become stewards of the environment. During classes, she is regularly joined by her friends Scaly the corn snake, Slimy the tiger salamander, and Lizzie the leopard gecko.
Ocean Adventure Camp dives into Earth's most expansive and mysterious habitat — the ocean, which covers more than 70 percent of our planet's surface. Each session tackles a different oceanic theme, taking students from crashing waves and sandy beaches all the way down to pitch-black deep-sea trenches, volcanic islands, and shipwrecks transformed into thriving coral reefs. Along the way, students explore the science behind waves and tides, encounter remarkable aquatic animals, and discover how the ocean shapes weather, climate, and daily life on land. This course is built for curious students who want to go beyond the surface and understand the forces, creatures, and ecosystems that make the ocean the most dynamic place on Earth.
