4.8
Classify animals into major groups (reptiles, amphibians, birds, mammals, invertebrates) using the Linnaean taxonomic system
Distinguish vertebrates from invertebrates and explain how backbone structure shapes animal biology
Identify birds by sight and behavior using observation techniques drawn from real ornithology field practice
Compare adaptations of related species across environments — such as aquatic turtles vs. land tortoises, or terrestrial vs. arboreal mammals
Explain the unique traits of fascinating species like venomous snakes, Komodo dragons, and axolotls
Describe how marine animals like sharks and jellyfish are adapted for life in ocean ecosystems
Analyze how habitat loss, pollution, and climate change threaten biodiversity and what conservation efforts are doing about it

Amalia Fernand is an environmental educator and world explorer who makes classes come alive with stories from her real-life adventures, props from her science shelf, and live program animals. The founder of Nature Explorers International, she has developed dozens of nature camps and classroom programs to inspire students to explore the world around them, appreciate wildlife, and become stewards of the environment. During classes, she is regularly joined by her friends Scaly the corn snake, Slimy the tiger salamander, and Lizzie the leopard gecko.
Animal Adventure Camp is a five-session live course that takes young animal lovers on a deep dive into the science behind the creatures that share our planet. Students will classify animals using real taxonomic tools, investigate the biology of reptiles, amphibians, birds, mammals, and invertebrates, and explore ecosystems from ocean depths to tropical rainforests. Along the way, they'll engage with live animals and scientific specimens — like real turtle shells — that bring classroom concepts to life. Whether your student dreams of becoming a zoologist, marine biologist, or wildlife conservationist, this camp builds the foundational knowledge and genuine enthusiasm to get there.
