About Me
I'm a graduate of Northwestern University, where I received a Bachelor's in Human Development and Psychological Services with a minor in Spanish. My career has revolved around youth and children and I've been involved in academic tutoring in almost every job I have held, from creating a high school STEM tutoring program in a community center in Peru, to providing individual academic support to suburban Chicago youth involved in mentoring programs. To me, tutoring is about really getting to know each student, their strengths, and those areas of weakness that are coming between them and their highest potential. My specialties are math, essay writing, and Spanish. I love algebra because it's so neat and there's always a right answer, and I enjoy helping students realize that it's more straightforward than it seems. Teaching Spanish is a great opportunity for fun and interactive learning, where I draw both from my memory of learning that language, and from my experience of teaching English to Spanish-speakers. Last, I have worked with so many students who struggle to express their great ideas in the ways that teachers, tests, and colleges require. I enjoy helping students represent themselves and their ideas through essay-writing, focusing specifically on ACT, SAT, and college applications. Hobbies: reading, music, running, art, books, writing
