Sometimes you see a word you don’t know. Context clues are hints in the sentence or paragraph that help you figure it out.
### Types of Context Clues
- **Definition:** The word is explained right there.
- **Example:** A situation or example makes the meaning clear.
- **Contrast:** The meaning is shown by what it is not.
### How to Use Context Clues
1. Read the whole sentence carefully.
2. Look for words or phrases that give hints.
3. Test your guess by replacing the word.
