Document the statement in the chart and continue with pre-operative preparation as scheduled.

Reassure the client that the surgeon would not have proceeded if the client had not been properly informed.

Stop the pre-operative process and immediately notify the RN and provider that the client does not understand what was consented to.

Ask the client to read the consent form aloud to clarify information they may have missed.
